Technical Description
The Wildfire Observations - Monthly Summary dataset identifies areas burned by wildfires globally at a ~1 km resolution. The dataset is generated by aggregating daily thermal anomaly observations from the Suomi NPP VIIRS Thermal Anomalies/Fire product, which detects active fires and other thermal events.
This dataset contains the following fields:
- inside_burned_area: A binary indicator (1.0 or null) denoting whether a location was within a burned pixel for the given month. 1.0 indicates the location falls within a burned pixel; null indicates it does not.
