Technical Description

The Global Water Stress Projected Risk dataset models future water stress and depletion risks worldwide for 2030, 2050, and 2080 under SSP1-2.6, SSP3-7.0, and SSP5-8.5 scenarios. Using a hydrology and water resources model, it estimates the ratio of water demand and consumption to renewable supplies, incorporating upstream use and dam impacts. Risk scores are expressed on a 0–5 scale from low to extremely high, reflecting projected competition among users, pressure on resources, and downstream water availability.
