Technical Description

The Extreme Precipitation Monthly Summary product provides valuable insights into the frequency of extreme precipitation actuals across the globe at a monthly timescale. This product seeks to identify areas where precipitation conditions may cause potential damage to life and property.

The product's precipitation_anomaly_frequency field is an asset-centered metric that detects locations experiencing high precipitation that are concurrently above the normal conditions for that area. It considers regional acclimatization and ensures an absolute baseline for classifying extreme precipitation events.

This dataset contains the following fields:

  • precipitation_anomaly_frequency: Rate of days/month (between 0-1) where the daily precipitation is above 10mm AND above the 95th baseline percentile for that location.
