Technical Description

The Commercial Electricity Costs, Historical, Time Series, US (v1.0) dataset contains monthly average commercial electricity prices by U.S. state, retrieved through the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) Open Data API using the commercial sector filter. Raw records are collected for the years 2014–2024 (inclusive) and include state codes, reporting periods, and electricity prices in cents per kilowatt-hour. The data are cleaned to ensure valid numeric types and standardized timestamps, with missing or invalid state geometries removed. The resulting dataset provides a complete monthly price time series suitable for spatial visualization, time trend analysis, or integration with other regional economic or energy datasets.
