Technical Description

This Collection holds the downscaled and bias-corrected CFSv2-ERA5-Land surface meteorological forecasts produced by Climate Engine. This forecast product takes the Climate Forecast System (Version 2) forecasts and adjusts them to be comparable with the global ERA5-Land reanalysis dataset.

The CFS version 2 was developed at the Environmental Modeling Center at NCEP. It is a fully coupled model representing the interaction between the Earth's atmosphere, oceans, land, and sea ice. It became operational at NCEP in March 2011. The operational configuration of CFSv2 for 24-h period consists of 16 runs every day, of which four runs go out to 9 months, three runs go out to 1 season, accuracy and spatial resolution in CFSv2, we bias-correct its output with ERA5-Land; we begin with aggregating 6-hourly to daily values followed by bilinear interpolation of daily CFSv2 anomalies to the ERA5-Land domain and superpose these to ERA5-Land climatologies.
