Description
This is a static historical dataset capturing watersheds within 5 km of a Conservation International Marine Biodiversity Hotspot. The dataset is intended to be used to identify locations with potential impacts on key marine ecosystems.
Technical Description
This Collection holds subsets of HydroSHEDS Level 12 HydroBASINS that are within 5km of a Conservation International Marine Biodiversity Hotspot (data version 2016.1). While some HydroSHEDS in the data may not be strictly "coastal", each included HydroSHED will fall within 5km of a marine hotspot. The assumption is that any location within this range may contribute to potential marine-related impacts, such as effluence, deforestation, damming, or flow attenuation. By using this threshold, the dataset ensures that relevant nearby upstream influences on key marine ecosystems are not overlooked.
